About the Author

Gaspare M. Genna is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at El Paso. His work is found in International Politics, Journal of European Integration, Comparative European Politics, Latin American Perspectives, Journal of Developing Societies, International Interactions, International Political Economy, and European Union Politics and numerous book chapters. He is an associate editor of Politics & Policy, Senior Research Fellow at the TransResearch Institute, and Associate Research Fellow at the Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies, United Nations University.

David Mayer-Foulkes has conducted research for CIDE, Mexico, for many years as well as PAHO, UNDP World Bank, and the Mexican Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, amongst others. His main interest is economic development, including the role of long-term intergenerational health, nutrition and educational poverty traps, and of multiple steady state models of endogenous technological change.

Her life touches me personally yet her tenacious attitude shows determination and willingness to forgive despite loopholes in her memory. Not another self help book.

If this is a self help book it is the "Fried Green Tomatoes" of self help books. Remember how much you laughed and cried watching that movie? This book is about how a little girl grew up and is getting everything she ever wanted. If it helps someone elst that is gravy.
When I was first given this book to read I hope the giver did not see the phony smile & dread in my eyes. I had just given another book to a friend (nice friend that I am) that I had been told would change my life blah, blah, blah. there are those that do self help books & those that just say they read them; you can guess where I fall. So here I was stuck with yet another one of those bricks as I think of them. You know the kind, a person who writes a self help book obviously thinks they have the answers to all your problems and guilt trip you into believing 'they' are the ones with the answers and you just have to SHAPE UP! You either have to love some God or Guru or the author themselves or you are a loser.
So here I was with this damn book thinking of it like a kid on a Sunday night with a book review due the next day. My friend knows me too well for me to bluff my way through it so I pick up "It's in The Little things" thinking I will put a few pages in and get the gist of it to vague my way through a response to have I read it yet.
At page 67 I burst out laughing OUT LOUD and had to actually put the book down and wipe my eyes. Not only that but I was sitting in a chair reading which was a shock because I always read lying down!
Gayle Suzanne stole my heart from the adorable little girl on the cover to the moment I burst out laughing. I was hooked and it was more a bursting forth from the heart for this simple book w/ it's deep wisdom that comes from being able to see and love yourself for who your are.
This is not a self help book. It is about a child/girl/woman who learns how to love herself and all the rest is gravy. Gayle helps herself come to see and love herself for who she is and in doing so is able to share what the rest can only hope to have in our lives. Lots of love and lots of laughs.

Well Done

The general overview is that this is great reading,
descriptive enough to help me see the moments as if I were there.

This book brought me through the writers life, it was such an emotional roller coaster, and had so many facets that many people can relate to, and then in the end the writer prevails all the odds and finds her true calling; she really finds the happiness in life...
...."happiness in the liitle things"....and continues to show us how to help others find their own happiness, or at least help us give them hope and maybe help others appreciate the little things.

I absolutely LOVED the dating portion….I was laughing out loud…
...my boyfriend kept looking at me like I was crazy when I would bust out in laughter.

Gayle I am so glad you became the wonderful woman you are...but in truth, I don't think you had to "become" the person you are today...I think it just took you a while to realize how wonderful you are. I think your book will inspire others to do the same.

What an inspiration

What a wonderful book, as one who fits the bill about feeling like I never measured up, this book is an inspiration to let go of the past and learn from the experiences. If only everyone could read this book and learn to "Treat others as they would like to be treated", what a better world it would be. Thank you Gail, for the wonderful stories that made me laugh and cry (in a good way), I am on my way to "A Life I Love". You are truly an inspiration and I also want to mention your CD, anyone who reads your book should also listen to the CD. Keep up the good work and continue to inspire all of us.

As a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ this book helps you to see the command for us to be used by Jesus to heal is very real today as it was 2000 years ago. The book encourages you to take the first steps in the Healing Ministry by giving you insightful background on specific disorders which enables you to have more courage to do what Christ said that we can and will do: Lay Hands on the Sick and they WILL recover. Simple Truth's and easy to understand. Prayers to set the captives free by recognizing the bondage that causes certain infirmities.

Good, but some flaws.

This was an adorable and sad poem book. It would be great for a child who lost one of their parents and needs some help understanding that being sad is ok as it is to have fun even when you’re sad. There’s a great little stanza in here;
"Just tell me where you've gone,
whether you're near of far.
I'll fly until I find you
no matter where you are."

I dock it down from 5 stars because while it has rhyming schemes throughout, the author has a few stanzas and lines that don’t rhyme and really bug or throw off the smooth transitioning. But other than that, it’s a great heart felt book.

Subtle and moving

It's been difficult to grieve over the recent death of my 94 year old father. This title came up in a list of recommended books about children grieving... and though in my 60s, that's exactly who I am right now. Reading about Davey's subtle experiences as he grieves for his mother helps me understand and appreciate what I'm going through.

Now retired, Mark S. Homan served as Chair of the Social Services Department at Pima Community College, where he taught for over 30 years. In addition to these duties, Mark has served as adjunct faculty and guest lecturer for colleges, universities, and training consortia in the United States, Russia, and Sweden. A strong advocate of community empowerment, Mark has worked with diverse populations in urban, rural, and reservation communities on a broad range of issues and has developed and directed several human services programs. He is the past Chair of the international Association for Community Organization and Social Administration (ACOSA), a founding member of community organizations and agencies, and has served in executive leadership roles on numerous community boards and councils. He has conducted workshops and delivered presentations on various aspects of community building and community power. The recipient of numerous awards for teaching excellence and for work with communities, Mark is also the author of RULES OF THE GAME: LESSONS FROM THE FIELD OF COMMUNITY CHANGE, which is used both as a textbook and as a practical guide for community change agents.
