About the Author
Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap, was born in Italy and ordained a Franciscan Capuchin priest in 1958. He taught at the Catholic University of Milan until 1979, when he resigned his teaching position to become a full-time preacher of the gospel. In 1980, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II as preacher to the papal household and still serves in that capacity. He is a frequent speaker at international and ecumenical conferences and rallies, and his books have been translated into more than twenty languages.

Perfect for this Year of Mercy

It is amazing how one person, Pope Francis, has been able to change what the focus of our lives must be in such a short amount of time. Thank God that Father Cantalamessa is still preaching to the Papal Household. He has given us very deep and meaningful insights on so any aspects of Our Lord and Christian living. This might just be his best.

For me I enjoyed reading a section and then rereading it

Each chapter is written in such a way that you can take your time reading and soaking in the message. It is simply written, but has a deep message. For me I enjoyed reading a section and then rereading it. When I purchase it I also purchased a copy for a friend. He commented that he was enjoyed the book greatly and was trying to put it into practice. Although I have read the Bible passages that Fr Cantalamessa talks on, he has given me a new twist to look at.
I think it would be great for a book study group.

The Older Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner

I found this treatment planner to be even better than Jongsma's other planners. I've used them for treating the Intellectually Disabled population and this is particularly effective. I found it to be so because it did not limit the suggestions to the broadest and most common diagnoses, but rather to include behavors that are typically found among elderly suffering dementia and/or related diagnoses. I would recommend it to anyone treating this ever-increasing poplulation and in particular, those in institutions. I am serving individuals in nursing homes as well as assisted care facilities and it is very useful.

A Howling Good Read

One of the best books I've read, I was hooked by page two. Jon has created a world of likable characters, and a driving plot that we haven't seen in young adult fantasy in a long time. Move over Twilight, because Hidden Valley the Awakening packs more mystery and suspense than Edward and Bella could ever hope to see. With this first book he has shown that anything can happen and no one is safe from the brutal murders happening around Hidden Valley, and it has only just begun. I can't wait until the next book!

Twisted, Terrifying an Absolutely Awesome

Hidden Valley the Awakening, is without a doubt the most mind blowing thriller, horror I have ever read. For real when you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down, I tried and I just couldn't do it. Hidden Valley is definitely going to be the next best saga, which will be loved by everyone I cannot believe how this book encompasses something for every single person. It has all the suspense you can possibly want, it has young love for the teenage audience, it gives you a thrill with non-stop action. This is the most amazing book, the most amazing story I have ever read. I don't know how Jon Woodward manages to encapsulate the whole realm of the story, but I am telling you it is incredible. It will scare the hell out of you, at the same time make you laugh so hard you can't believe it and then the very next moment, you'll have tears streaming down your face. Wow what an incredible ride. As some of the reviews have stated that I read, I agree move over twilight you have just been so replaced. True blood it's all over for you and Hemlock grove you might as well just close up shop. Because Hidden Valley the Awakening, is literally going to blow your mind. I cannot recommend this book higher. As an avid reader and someone who reads tremendous amount this is without a doubt one of the best, easiest reads I've had a long time. I literally could not put down. Enjoyed the read.

Worth A Sleepless Night..... A Real Page Turner.

Not a fan of the vampire genre and reluctantly picked up "Hidden Valley The Awakening". My reluctance turned into a sleepless night while it absorbed me. Could not put it down! Then read it again looking for where I missed clues. Aggravating how much this book got under my skin - in a "smiling thru my aggravation" way.

Characters are well developed, making you like them and enjoy their personalities. I found myself rooting for them, cheering them on and screaming inside my head for them to RUN!

Has the requisite "things that go bump in the night" format with a dash of suspense followed by a side of terror with a bit of humor. How do you make all of those elements come together? Ask Jon Woodward! He made it happen seamlessly.

My only disappointment with the book? It ended way too soon with a cliff hanger. Book 2, please?

My suggestion to you? Indulge yourself with the fun and suspense of this story.

About the Author
Daniel M. Shea is Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for Political Participation at Allegheny College. He is the author of several books on American politics, including TRANSFORMING DEMOCRACY: LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGNS AND POLITICAL PARTIES (1995), CAMPAIGN MODE: THE STRATEGY TACTICS AND ART OF POLITICAL CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT (1996 AND 2001), CAMPAIGN MODE: STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP IN CONGRESSIONAL ELECTIONS (with Michael John Burton, 2002). Shea has edited numerous other books dealing with parties, elections, Congress, and the politics of the media, and has written articles for a number of journals. He lives in Meadville, PA with his wife Christine Gatto-Shea and three children.

Christopher E. Smith is Professor of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University (MSU). He earned degrees at Harvard University, the University of Bristol (England), the University of Tennessee, and the University of Connecticut. Trained as a lawyer and social scientist, he is the author of 25 books and more than 100 scholarly articles on law, courts, and criminal justice policy. He has been recognized as an outstanding teacher with MSU's "Teacher-Scholar Award" and "Alumni Association Outstanding Teaching Award." His other books with Cengage Learning/Wadsworth include CRIMINAL JUSTICE IN AMERICA, Eighth Edition (with George Cole and Christina DeJong), LAW AND CONTEMPORARY CORRECTIONS, CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS: MYTHS AND REALITIES, and CRIMINAL PROCEDURE.

Interesting Overview.- A collection of Well-captioned photographs.

A major collecting field today is clothing and equipment.
This is the third edition of a book I have had in my library for a number of years. It is an excellent set of images of models wearing the clothing and equipment recreations of soldiers as they appeared during various time periods of the Vietnam War.
Vietnam servic3 for the typical serving soldier was a one year tour, he would be not be cognizant of the changes that occured over the war's course. And the vast majority would not have cared about them.
In the early sixties, when major units begsn to arrive to. troops were wearing garishly tricked out cotton utilities of the post Korea Cold War which had color shoulder sleeve insignia, xonspicuous white name tapes, golden U.S. Army strips, and bright yellow stripes, making them easy to spot. When in the early seventies the last ground troops left the changes were considerable. The insignia for all combat uniforms was dudued, mostly black on OG, or black pinons.
Both the regular design green utiliy shirt and trousers set, and the khaki service uniform sets once made of cotton needing to be starched to look presentable for a rew hours before they were sweat-soaked, were vy the end made of wash-and-wear cloth known as Durapress.
The tropical combat coat had undergone two design changes, the tropical boot was ubiquitous. Individual equipment had changed considerably in design and in material, from cotton webbing and duck to nylon goods.
It is said iwtnam was not one eight year long war (twice as long as we were in WW II) but eight one year wars in a row. Thus it is not enough to state that a soldier was in Vietnam in order to know how he appeared; also you must know when and where and with whom he served.
There were lots of limited issue, mission-specific items used by special operations troops. These object alone form a major collecting field. Aemy aviation items are another. The largest Vietnam era collecting specialty nowadays is the clothing and individual equipmntof the ground troops--The "grunts". Major changes also had been made in the design and color of insignia worn on the field clothing. and in the cut, colors and materials of the clothing itself.
This book is far from definitive at its length but it is useful to show indicating the vast variety from time to time and place to place.

Great Book for Its Price. Lots of Colour Photos.

First of all, the book's subject matter is far more focused than its rather general title would suggest. Although this book does contain a few photos of helicopter crewmen, it should really be entitled "Vietnam: US Ground Forces Combat Uniforms in Colour Photographs."
The book contains 92 colour photos. All of which are nice clear studio photographs. The book features 43 different uniforms. Unlike some uniform books, the models wearing the uniforms are well selected. The uniforms are displayed with full or close to full field gear. Each model is photographed full-length from both the front and back. The book attempts to illustrate how soldiers actually wore equipment and web gear in the field.
The text accompanying each set of uniform photos is very concise. The opening paragraph provides the historical context: the remaining paragraphs serve to identify the equipment and field gear.
The book also includes two photos of sleeve insignia and three photos showing the contents on a soldier's pack.
For its price, this book is a very good reference. It gives the reader a good sense of the overall appearance of the Vietnam combat soldier. However, it does not provide any detailed information, nor does it feature any close-up photos. It is not a good book for militaria collectors, but it is a good book for scale modelers.

My Soapbox review....

This book , in my own opinion was quite good. It does what most reference books don't.....show the uniforms(or items of interest) in perfect light and studio conditions. Don't get me wrong,I know it is good to see true-to-life photos, but they usually don't give you an idea, or visual picture like this book. The only bad part of this book is that it shows too few examples of variants during this conflict. The thing that make up for it is the price of the book....it was $24.95 originally. IMHO this book is worth $40-50 max in new condition.

A Different Look At Submission

First of all, let me say that I received a copy of M Genisis in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! The description of this book grabbed me right away. I'm a female submissive and have read many books about female subs and their Doms/Masters, but this book is about Mary, a good southern Catholic girl, who after being dumped by her boyfriend, learns about male submission, more correctly, male chastity. Mary has a friend who has her boyfriend "locked up." She's intrigued by this idea and starts to do some research on the subject of Keyholders and Masters, or Female Dominance and Male Chastity. She starts thinking that maybe she can find a man to lock up and teach him a thing or two about pleasing a woman. Stuart comes into her life and she starts comparing him to all the other men who have eventually exited her life, thinking he will be the same as all the others. She decides that chastity and training her man is the way to go. But will he go for it?
I have to say that I like the second part of this book way better than I did the first part. The first part seemed overly descriptive with some words being very repetitive. While reading the beginning chapters, it just seemed to drag and I thought to myself, 'Where is this going?" What does any of this have to do with male chastity?' However, much of what's written in the first half is explained and brought together in the second half of the book. But let me tell you...the second half of the book makes up for the first half! I loved reading about the training. There were some very funny parts in M Genesis, as well as some things that were sad. This book is not overly full of sex scenes; there's an actual story to follow. But the sex scenes that are there are very hot and DIFFERENT! They had me squirming!
My biggest issue with this book was that it was written mostly in the narrative third person point of view. Then it would switch occasionally to dialog. I do suggest to the author that there be much more dialog in the next book. I did love the inclusion of the internet chats, though. Those or texting just seem to add a bit of "realness" to the story, and I think they are a cute addition. The book is a very good length for the money. There were some absent or misplaced commas, some wrong verb tenses, some words repeated too often in close proximity, and some misspelled and misused words. None of these things took away from the story, however. Over all, this book is well worth the read and totally different from much of the erotica out there. AND I've gotta read more! Please let there be a HEA for Mary and Stuart! Happy Ever After)

a bdsm love story with a heart and a brain

A little verbose at times, this was still very captivating and well worth the time. Quality writing in this genre is very hard to find and this is one of the best ones I have found. The story between Mary and Stuart is well-developed and there is no lack of emotional depth from Mary's side. It's a bdsm love story with a heart and a brain and not too extreme in its kink factor. Needs a little editing but I still give it five stars based on its length. Hopefully there will be a book 2 somewhere down the line.
