Interesting compilation for kids

My sister and I are in our mid and late 50's and still repeat some of the oddball things in this book that contains a compilation of kids' sayings and sing-song poetry. We were little - 8 and 4 years old - and still remember the book to this day. I was happy to find it!

About the Author
"Gary K. Griffith" is President of Griffith Training, a productivity and quality consulting firm in Huntington Beach, California. Griffith conducts in-plant and public training courses and seminars on various engineering and quality related topics. He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institute for Advancement of Engineering (IAE).

During his 35 years of experience, Griffith has held a variety of manufacturing and quality positions, including inspection, inspection supervision, process control engineer/supervisor, quality engineer, quality manager, and process engineering manager. He has also taught courses in quality, engineering, mechanical design, and machine tool technology at El Camino College in Hawthorne, California. He is a firm believer in quality practices and the promotion of quality awareness in order to improve the status of American businesses.

Expert author, strong book for any level professional

I had the fortune of being trained by Mr. Griffith in GD&T 10 years ago as a rookie designer. He certainly opened my eyes to the reality of translating the page to the real world. He was very,very well versed in the topics of GD&T and inspection. Years later I found myself in QA and a member of ASQ and find out that he has written (and been writing) "the book" on technical quality skills. This book is not weighted toward metric improvement, SS, or cultural quality topics though it includes those. Its the book you want handy when its time to discuss how to measure something properly which is the fundamental business of quality professionals. It is well-organized, easy to read though you should have some experience before diving in. I recommend this book to all levels as the topics within it are "core" skills. In fact though I am a CQE, I tend to grab this book first when needing a reference for day-to-day tactical issues.

Amazing book. I have been in the quality department ...

Amazing book. I have been in the quality department for a couple years and am always looking for resources to sharpen my skills. This book covers alot. The chapter on surface plate inspection was what peaked my interest initially in the book description. Despite it being such an integral cornerstone in manufacturing in the United States, there is not much good info online about it. This has fulfilled my expectations on the subject and everything else that was advertised. I'm still diving in, so I don't have alot of feedback yet.

The only negative that comes to mind immediately is black and white photos. A few of them are a little tough to make out. Nothing major. If you have a job in the quality world and you are looking to expand your skill set, buy this book.

Branley includes discussion of the parts making up the station, how its systems are powered, how astronauts put together the modules in space and live on board, and what the station will be used for upon completion. Clear writing and excellent diagrams combine to make the basics of this complex program understandable to fairly young children. The presentation of technological material to an interested but unsophisticated audience can be difficult, but Branley and Kelley have shown a good grasp of what to include and what to leave out. Kelley's artwork, evidently ink and watercolor, maintains a fine balance of beauty, clarity, and child appeal. The final page gives instructions for growing crystals, an experiment carried out on the station, and a Web site address for locating the International Space Station in the night sky or just finding further information. Calling all NASA fans! We had this book handy the day the International Space Station was in the news... one of over 150 titles in the "Let's Read-and-Find-Out Science" series that we own and use constantly! Begun in the 1960s, this series is just perfect when you want to explore a specific topic. Books about the different phases of the moon, the ways of ants, ladybugs, gravity, your skeleton.... all kinds of timeless books with timeless information presented in a living way! But what about the books about rockets and sattelites? Boy, are they outdated! That is why I was so delighted with this great new title. Generous oversized format with LOTS of detail.

My 4 year old loves anything to do with space. We have several of the books in this series and are happy with them all. This book covers many aspects of the International Space station from the beginning to some future goals. It talks about the parts of the station and some of the activities that the astronauts complete. I would recommend this book for any child who is interested in space exploration.

Miss the good old days when Prof. Art used to grill us over all those theories=) This book is not meant for the everyday reader, if you are genuinely interested in learning about the fungibility (gotcha) of force, feel free to dive into it.
