About the Author
Dr. Jack Kapoor is a Professor of Business and Economics in the Business and Services Division. Dr. Kapoor has taught Business and Economics at College of DuPage since 1969. He received his B.A. and M.S. from San Francisco State College and his Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University. Professor Kapoor was recently awarded the Business and Services Division's Outstanding Professor Award for 1999-2000. Dr. Kapoor is known internationally as a co-author of several textbooks including Business: A Practical Approach (Rand McNally), Business (Houghton Mifflin), and Focus on Personal Finance (Richard D. Irwin/McGraw-Hill).

Professor of business at Dallas County Community Colleges, believes that these two words can literally change people's lives. Whether you want to be rich or just manage the money you have, the ability to analyze financial decisions and gather financial information are skills that can always be improved. In addition to writing several textbooks, Dr. Hughes has taught personal finance, introduction to business, business math, small business management, small business finance, and accounting since 1972. He also served as a content consultant for two popular national television series, It's Strictly Business and Dollars & Sense: Personal Finance for the 21st Century, and is the lead author for a business math project utilizing computer-assisted instruction funded by the ALEKS Corporation. He received his BBA from Southern Nazarene University and his MBA and EdD from the University of North Texas. His hobbies include writing, investing, collecting French antiques, art, and travel.

Les Dlabay teaches in the Department of Economics and Business at Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois. Over the past 25 years, he has taught more than 30 different courses in high school, community college, university, adult education, and teacher preparation programs. Dr. Dlabay has developed a wide variety of textbook materials, student activity guides, instructor manuals, testing programs, audio-visual materials, and software packages in the areas of Personal Finance, Consumer Economics, and International Business. Dr. Dlabay has served as a consultant to corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies. He has presented more than 140 workshops and seminars in over 20 states to encourage teachers to actively involve students in the learning process with video presentations, newsletters, interviews, and Internet research activities.

Does NOT come with promised access code

If you are buying this for a college class that requires you to use Connect, then you'll want to know that this book does not come with that code, though the description may make you think otherwise. Save yourself some money and just go straight to Connect and buy the 6-month access, you're going to need to anyway, and you'll save a lot more money because Connect comes with the eBook for this textbook and offers it in a printable format. If you're like me and you have to have a physical copy of the book, save yourself the hassle of wasting money and agonizing over whether the book will arrive by the start of the semester and just buy yourself a binder to keep your printed copy in.

I'm Actually Buying it for My Own Personal Reading

I was assigned this book in my Financial Literacy course at school. My professor was amazing (shout out to Framingham State!) and this book was part of my success in that class. I'll be the first to say I don't like math, like at all. Give me a Humanities class any day. But it's really important, especially as young people, to get a handle on money management early. The formulas are explained very well, I learned a lot that helped my real-life decision-making, and it's packed full of a ton of knowledge. Rented it at first then came back to buy it.

This book is great for beginners and teaches you the basics of how the stock market works.
It is a good way to begin learning the terms and meanings of many technical terms they
use in the stock market. You have come to the right place if you are wanting to learn how to invest.

I took Finance 101 at UNLV and they required me to purchase this book. Buying books at the campus
bookstore is really not the right thing to do. It is way too expensive compared with the price you can get
it on here. Not only did I learn a lot from taking this class and reading this book, it had made me
completely change my whole major. This book is great!

A man-made disaster indeed gets the story started: a female gull becomes mired in an enormous oil slick and expends all of her remaining energy in a final flight to safety. She lands on the balcony of an apartment building, where she meets the fat black cat Zorba and extracts a threefold promise from him: that he will not eat the egg she is about to lay, that he will look after it and, once it is hatched, that he will teach the fledgling how to fly. Zorba enlists the help of his good and noble friends ("He gave his word of honor, and the word of one cat of the port is the word of all the cats of the port," says Colonel). Each is endearing and distinctive, from the sage but stammering Colonel to the hilariously forthright Secretario to the encyclopedia-consulting Einstein. A Great Story of Courage in the Face of Environmental Disaster and an Excellent Translation

This book is a great read for all ages, and it is appropriate for children 7 to 12. The summary provided by Amazon is correct. The only thing I have to add that it is a story of great feeling, and from an academic standpoint, it is useful to develop language art skills and language learning skills. I think it is best read if read aloud. If I had children, I would read them this book at night.

This book is on my favorite book shelf for this month at the bookstore in which I work.
My son reads to his daughter and I suggested this book. Both parent and child can appreciate this charming story and the clever way in which it is told. Very clever plot. I would have never guessed at the solution to the problem.

Attitude is Critical

This book has helped me in both my personal life and in my teachings to the church in which I pastor. This is not a theological piece filled with the depth of doctrine. It was not written to be that - it is howevever a look at biblical perspective to having a healthy heart - the type God can really use. Don't waste so much energy on the negative and on your past - look to all that Jesus provides for you and the power for you to live a heart-healthy successful life.
I love this book and I love Wayne! He is the real deal and New Hope and more imporatantly his heart to serve the body of Christ is proof of this.

A good fit for both the young and the young at heart

I read this book years ago. The recent purchase was for the student leaders at a Christian school that I serve. They are reading the book with their sponsors/counselors. I am confident that this book will impact the readers.

For your reference, I read about two books a month, and I'm a Christian school principal. I also hold multiple advanced degrees, including Ed.D. All this to simply inform you that I am an avid reader who is familiar with the topic of Christian discipline.

I wish that I could give this book 5 stars but I have only one complaint: I live in the US and this book is written to go with the UK tax system. Otherwise I find the book is very well written and is still teaching me how to manage my small business accounting.
